excerpt from 30,000 city windows

by Amanda Deutch

Somewhere between mauve
And mechanical advantage
is
There is
passion fruit,
Lust and dirt underwear.

Say your ohms
In Neon super market
Of
Rhapsodic broken eyes

Displ,aced baritone voices
Currency

Of fingertips,
joints and jelly legs
Purchase all the atomic pulse candy
you want
maw
the maga
the crumb of a bird
pigeon

gumless toothless featherless

raw
flight

gum
chewing gum
stuck mashed into a dark black
spot in the street
that our feet rush and clutter upon in drum beats
flight
Chew—a unit to measure pressure
anchee anchee
rah rah
Boom.

Say your ohms
As alone in the dark department store
a girl
a little girl
waits
for her mother
who has made a mis-

take

& cannot repeat the
moment

or rewind
her mind—

neon supermarket
say your ohms
amongst broken rolling eyeballs

& the hush
of washboard voices

noon dusk midnight
all the same time

Electrical lines
Power lines

floss

Blind seraphs
Rescue
drugged supermarket daughters
from the throes of power
lines

& inner circus laughs

You asked.
If they were ever there
there in seams
buried in inside
the sweat
of shelves—

Eyelid movies

bramble

of hands

City windows open

like wings.

Ohm- The unit used to measure resistance to electricity, after G.S. Ohm
