Featuring readings by Jennifer Hasegawa, Dustin Heron and Zulema Renee Summerfield, and musical guest Ali Lanzetta.
Watchword's first single-author publication is a selection from Britta Austin's project titled notecards: a living museum, a collection of flash fiction typed on 3" x 5" index cards using a Royal Quiet De Luxe typewriter over the course of one and a half years. Austin began the project in 2006, and in June, 2008 the entire collection was featured in the third installation of the Watchword Press gallery series, Whole Story where contributing artists collectively transformed San Francisco's Intersection for the Arts gallery into a life-sized, multi-media diorama in reaction to the work. The notecards inspired both visual and performance artists to create original works based on the wide range of themes, ideas, images, and concepts within.

Whole Story IV is coming...
Deadline for submissions February 1st!
A story can be told one thousand ways. To lift narrative creatively from the page, we've developed a new performance model that transforms a conjunctive gallery and theater space into a life-sized, multi-media diorama in reaction to one short story to be selected from the latest submissions to Watchword Press.
If you have a story you'd like to submit, email it to us! For more details on what Whole Story is, go to the Whole Story page.
